Logan McPherson

Veterinarian in Training

I joined The Vet Connection team in June of 2021 primarily as the Puppy Pre-school teacher. I made the move to Perth in February 2021 for Veterinary studies. I have a background in animal studies already; I’ve completed a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Management at The University of Melbourne. There I also completed an honorary thesis in Animal Behaviour in 2020. I have a background working in Animal Emergency and also in the enrichment department at Werribee Open Range Zoo. I live to surround myself with animals and work to better the welfare and livelihoods of them.

Do you have any pets?

Back in Melbourne, I had a beautiful foster Bull Arab who got adopted just after I left, and also have two family dogs, a Groodle ‘Zeus’ and a rescue Cavoodle ‘Noah’.

Which pets have left paw prints on your heart?

Dogs have left paw prints on my heart, and also my pet Turtle of 19 years ‘Slidey’.

Why do you want to become a Veterinarian and what do you enjoy most about your job?

I want to be a Veterinarian because nothing would fulfill me more in life than to help those furry friends who don’t have a voice for themselves, to work with owners to keep their best friends happy and healthy, and to challenge myself in a workplace that is changeable, demanding and confronting, but also rewarding.

How do you relax when you’re not at work?

In my free time I enjoy bouldering and rock climbing, going to the beach and listening to some good aussie tunes (triple J). I froth for the outdoors, hiking camping, being surrounded by dogs.
