Dr Sam Amirgoodarzi, DVM

Owner Director / Principle Veterinarian

Dr. Sam, the clinic owner and head veterinarian at Vet Connection East Fremantle, a dedicated leader who inspires the entire team with his passion and commitment to animal welfare. Dr. Sam’s journey in veterinary medicine began overseas, where he graduated in 2008 before making Australia his permanent home in 2011. Since then, he has built a career centered on excellence, becoming the Owner/Principal Veterinarian in 2022, where he continues to lead by example.

As the head vet, Dr. Sam’s exceptional surgical skills, vast knowledge, and dedication to continuing education have made him an invaluable mentor to the entire team. He’s not just a clinician but a source of guidance and inspiration, always striving to provide the best care possible for both animals and the team he leads.

Outside of work, Dr. Sam treasures family life, enjoying quality time with his two sons and two beloved fur babies, Charlotte and Ruby. Whether it’s taking walks with the family, enjoying weekends full of outdoor activities, or sharing the simple joys of life at home, Dr. Sam finds balance and fulfillment in his family moments. He also loves spending time with his kids, supporting their interests, and making lasting memories together. His love for animals extends beyond the clinic, and his dedication to his family mirrors the care and passion he brings to the clinic each day. His calm, steady leadership, both at home and at work, has inspired his team and earned the respect of all who work with him.

Vet Nursing Student, Madi Bell

Vet Nurse Student

Meet Madi, one of the dedicated members of our team at The Vet Connection. Having been with us for over a year, Madi has proven herself as an invaluable part of our clinic, serving as the Practice Administrator while working hard to complete her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing. She’s now on the home stretch to becoming a fully qualified nurse and is eager to continue her journey in animal care.

Madi’s passion for animals led her to pursue a veterinary career, initially studying at Murdoch University with hopes of becoming a veterinarian. Although her path took a different direction, her love for the animal industry only deepened. After taking time off from university to travel and gain more hands-on experience, Madi found her way to The Vet Connection.

A life-changing experience as a vet intern in South Africa further solidified her commitment to animal care, especially sparking a deep affection for tigers. Having made Perth her home for the past three years after relocating from Victoria, Madi is known around the clinic for her multitasking abilities, warm demeanor, and dedication to helping your pets feel comfortable and loved. She also rocks some very bright and funky scrubs on Fridays!

With her diverse experience, unwavering passion, and close-knit relationship with both clients and pets, Madi is a vital member of The Vet Connection team, ensuring smooth clinic operations and exceptional care for your furry friends.

 

Dr Maz Mahouti BSc BVMS

Veterinary Surgeon

Meet Dr. Maz, one of our highest-trained veterinary surgeons, known for his passion and expertise in surgery. With a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from KIAU in Iran and a requalification with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) from Murdoch University in 2018, Dr. Maz brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to The Vet Connection.

Dr. Maz has always had a deep love for surgery, and his advanced training and experience in this field make him one of the most skilled surgeons on our team. Whether performing routine procedures or complex surgeries, Dr. Maz approaches every case with precision, care, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients.

In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Maz has a special interest in treating skin issues in dogs, and he stays at the forefront of veterinary medicine through continual learning and development. His dedication to providing comprehensive care ensures that every pet receives the highest level of attention, tailored to their unique needs.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Maz is a devoted family man with two children and a loyal furry companion named Spot. His love for animals extends beyond his work, enriching both his personal life and professional practice.

Dr Tara Valentine, BSc, BVMS

Veterinary Surgeon

Introducing Dr. Tara Valentine, one of the newest members of The Vet Connection team, though she’s far from a newcomer to the world of veterinary medicine. Graduating from Murdoch University in 2014, Dr. Tara brings a wealth of experience and a heartfelt passion for animal care to our clinic. With years of dedicated practice under her belt, she is committed to providing compassionate, expert care for pets of all kinds, ensuring they receive the highest standard of medical attention.

Dr. Tara’s approach to veterinary care is centered around empathy, understanding, and communication. She believes in building strong connections with both pets and their families, providing not just medical treatment, but peace of mind, and fostering trust through every stage of the care process. Whether it’s a routine check-up or a more complex issue, Dr. Tara approaches every case with patience, a deep knowledge of her field, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of her patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Tara enjoys a balanced and fulfilling life. She finds peace in nature, often relishing moments spent outdoors, whether hiking, exploring, or simply soaking in the beauty of the world around her. A lover of good food and humor, she embraces life’s little joys—whether it’s indulging in a great meal, laughing at her favorite comedies, or chasing after her lively 2-year-old son. Dr. Tara is also known for her lighthearted spirit, writing delightfully bad poetry, and finding humor in the everyday moments that make life so special.

Her deep sense of empathy, along with her thoughtful and holistic approach to veterinary care, makes Dr. Tara a vital part of our team. With her love for animals, her dedication to families, and her passion for life outside the clinic, she brings an exceptional balance of expertise and warmth to The Vet Connection.

Dr Kasia Laskowski

Veterinary Surgeon
Dr Kasia Laskowski graduated from Murdoch University in 2007 and has since worked in a variety of small animal clinics and animal charities across Perth. Her passion for animals has been lifelong, driving her to strengthen the human-animal bond and help pets live their best lives as valued members of the family.
Kasia has always been fascinated by science, problem-solving, and understanding how things work, which naturally led her to the veterinary profession. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary work and finds it incredibly rewarding to keep furry family members happy and healthy.
Outside of work, Kasia is married and a proud mother to three young children. She works part-time and enjoys relaxing at home or spending time outdoors with her family. At home, she has Arnold, a lovable ginger cat who amusingly behaves more like a dog. Kasia previously had a dog before her children were born and is considering adding another canine companion to the family when the time is right.

Dr Pip Hogan, BSc, BVMS

Veterinary Surgeon

Say hello to Dr Pip, one of our newestest team members. Pip graduated from Murdoch University in 2023 and quickly dove into her passion for emergency medicine, completing an emergency and critical care internship. While she may be a recent graduate, her journey in the veterinary industry began back in 2010 as a veterinary nurse in a rural general practice.

Over the years, Dr. Pip gained extensive hands-on experience, building a strong foundation in both general and emergency care. In the last five years, she specialized in emergency and critical care nursing, where her love for the fast-paced, dynamic nature of emergency medicine truly flourished. This rich background gives her a unique blend of practical expertise and clinical knowledge, which she is always striving to expand.

Currently, Dr. Pip splits her time between The Vet Connection and a large emergency centre, bringing her skills and enthusiasm to both teams. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active and spending quality time with her three beloved pets.

RVN, Casey-Lee Watling

Introducing Casey, a dedicated and compassionate member of The Vet Connection team who has been with us for a year and a half. Her passion for animals was sparked by the inspiring work of Steve and Bindi Irwin. From a young age, Casey was captivated by their commitment to wildlife conservation and always knew she wanted to make a difference. In 2023, she fulfilled her dream by graduating as a qualified vet nurse.

At the clinic, Casey is known for showering your fur babies with cuddles, care, and plenty of attention, ensuring they feel safe and loved during their visit. Her natural empathy and kindness shine through in every interaction.

Outside of work, Casey leads an active, fulfilling life. Whether she’s playing sports, walking her dog, cuddling her reptiles, or being greeted by her two cats with the familiar phrase, “Are you making biscuits?!” Casey’s love for animals knows no bounds. She also loves to bring her cats in for funky haircuts, showing off her fun side along with her passion for creative grooming.

For Casey, working in the animal industry isn’t just a job—it’s a calling and a blessing. Whether caring for furry companions, or those with scales or feathers, her heart and passion for all living things shine bright. She is an invaluable asset to The Vet Connection team, and with her by your side, you can be sure your beloved pets are in caring and capable hands.

Meet Kelly, a highly experienced and passionate veterinary nurse who joined The Vet Connection team in March 2024. Originally from New Zealand, Kelly brings a wealth of knowledge with her background in general practice at the prestigious veterinary teaching hospital at Massey University. Graduating from the Bachelor of Veterinary Technology program in 2021, Kelly has quickly become a key player in our clinic, not only for her excellent clinical skills but also for her leadership and commitment to training the next generation of veterinary nurses.

Kelly is the only veterinary nurse at The Vet Connection who works closely with our nursing staff, providing valuable training and mentorship to ensure that our team is always improving and delivering the highest level of care. She’s deeply involved in assisting our veterinarians in top surgeries, playing an integral role in complex procedures, and ensuring everything runs smoothly in the operating room. Her expertise in surgical assistance and nursing support makes her an indispensable member of the team.

She finds joy in all aspects of veterinary nursing, but her particular passion lies in meeting pet owners and utilizing low-stress handling techniques to ensure that our furry friends feel calm and comfortable during their visits. Her nurturing nature means she always takes the time to provide extra cuddles and comfort to her patients, making them feel safe and at ease.

Outside of work, Kelly enjoys the simple pleasures of life, including baking delicious treats, tending to her garden, and spending quality time with her husband and three beloved cats—Freddie, Millie, and Bonnie.

With her caring touch, expertise in training and assisting with surgeries, and her unwavering commitment to the well-being of both animals and team members, Kelly is an invaluable addition to The Vet Connection team. Her leadership and passion ensure that every patient receives top-tier care and attention, and she continues to help elevate the skills of the entire clinic staff.

RVN, Mihsty Lee-Crump

Introducing Mihsty, one of our head registered veterinary nurses at The Vet Connection and one of the longest-serving members of our nursing team. Having been with the clinic for several years, Mihsty has become an invaluable part of the team. She graduated from South Metro Tafe in 2021 and quickly made her mark as a dedicated and compassionate nurse.

For Mihsty, the bond between humans and animals is a source of profound comfort and joy. The trust and unconditional love they offer her while she works are gifts she cherishes deeply. As a head nurse, Mihsty is not only an expert in veterinary care but also a mentor to her fellow nurses, guiding them with her wealth of experience and passion for animal welfare. She finds immense fulfillment in positively impacting the lives of countless animals and their human companions, always ensuring they receive the best care possible.

Believing strongly in the importance of good health and well-being for every animal, Mihsty is committed to providing exceptional care and support. She advocates for giving every furry friend the chance they deserve to thrive and live their best life.

Outside of work, Mihsty enjoys spending time with her large family and friends, savoring delicious food, and prioritizing her mental and physical well-being.

RVN, Alison Edwards

Qualified and Registered Veterinary Nurse

Alison is the newest nurse to join The Vet Connection team, bringing enthusiasm, dedication, and a passion for animal care. She first joined us in mid-2024 as a student, gaining hands-on experience and developing her skills under the guidance of our team. After months of training and growth, she graduated as a registered vet nurse from South Metro TAFE at the end of 2024 and seamlessly transitioned into her role as a casual nurse.

Alison has a deep love for cats and is committed to providing the highest standard of care to all the animals she treats. She is excited to continue learning and growing alongside the team, ensuring that every pet receives the compassion and attention they deserve.

Outside of work, Alison enjoys spending time with her beloved Cavalier King Charles cross, who holds a special place in her heart. She also loves expressing her creativity through cooking and baking, always experimenting with new recipes and perfecting delicious treats.

With her kind nature, eagerness to learn, and dedication to her patients, Alison is a fantastic addition to The Vet Connection family.

Meet Mikaela! Mikaela’s journey in the animal industry began with hands-on experience as a volunteer at WA Wildlife Hospital, where she spent over a year learning the intricacies of animal care and rehabilitation. She later joined The Vet Connection as a nursing student, completing her clinical hours for TAFE, and has since been hired as a RVN. Known for her warm and compassionate nature, Mikaela is great with your pets, always showing them the love and care they deserve. Her passion for animals drives her education and career path as she continues to expand her knowledge and skills in veterinary nursing. Outside of her studies, Mikaela is an active individual who enjoys playing netball, swimming at the beach, and exploring the great outdoors. Whether caring for animals or enjoying her favorite outdoor activities, Mikaela’s energy and enthusiasm shine through in all that she does.

Veterinary Student, Caitlin Cooper

Meet Caitlin, a dedicated member of The Vet Connection team who joined us at the end of 2023 while pursuing her Veterinary Medicine degree at Murdoch University. With a background in Animal Science, Caitlin transitioned into vet med driven by her passion for animals and the endless opportunities it offers to work with various species. Inspired by her experiences alongside veterinarian family members, Caitlin is committed to providing top-notch care for pets and their owners. She thrives in team environments, enjoying the collaborative problem-solving process. Caitlin finds great joy in meeting everyone’s adorable pets, each with their own unique personalities and stories. Outside of work and studies, Caitlin enjoys long walks at the beach with her dog Ajax and serves as the goalkeeper for the Suburban Lions premier league hockey team. With her dedication and love for animals, Caitlin is an invaluable part of our team at The Vet Connection, ensuring that every pet receives the highest standard of care and attention.

Vet nursing Student, Fairlie Whish-Wilson

Vet Nurse Student, Animal Attendant

Fairlie is a Veterinary Nurse student and the newest member of the team. While she is new to the practice, she has been working in the animal care industry for several years and brings a strong passion for veterinary nursing. She is known as a friendly, approachable, and positive presence in the clinic, always aiming to make both clients and their pets feel comfortable and supported. Fairlie is calm under pressure, and takes pride in delivering compassionate, patient-focused care.

She studied Animal Care and Welfare with Applied Vocational Training and is currently completing her Veterinary Nursing qualification with Applied Vocational Training. In the clinic, Fairlie especially enjoys working with spicy cats and bully breed dogs, appreciating the challenge and individuality of animals with big personalities.

Outside of work and study, Fairlie enjoys walking her dog, spending time at the beach, and going to the gym. At home, she has two cats and a rescue dog named Cormac, a red heeler cross bull arab, who keeps her active and entertained.
